Becoming the Author of your Own Life

July 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
$10

We all have a story — but sometimes that story gets lost in translation, buried under fear, or hidden behind silence. Elisha Rose brings: Becoming the Author of Your Life to the Northern BC Writers Festival: a powerful, intimate workshop designed for anyone who has ever wondered what it might feel like to finally say, this is my truth, and I’m not ashamed of it.

Participants will explore the weight of untold stories — why we hold them back, what it costs us to keep them hidden, and what becomes possible when we choose to share them. This workshop will create a brave, raw space where participants can sit with the hard questions together:

What does sharing your truth really mean to you?
What are you afraid it will cost you?
And what are you losing by staying silent?

Through guided writing prompts, open conversation, and the rawness and warmth that Elisha brings in her work, participants will leave with the courage to begin. This workshop would be for aspiring writers, seasoned storytellers, survivors, dreamers, and anyone who has ever felt like their story doesn’t deserve to be told.

From Elisha Rose:

I have published two books that are now available on Amazon, at Books and Company in Prince George, the Prince George Public Library, and at Artisantique in Terrace. I Am Worthy and Time to Wake Up My Love are my two non-fiction memoirs and they are the most honest things I have ever done. In them, I share my story of losing my partner to addiction, healing from my own, and walking through the fire of low self-worth, motherhood, grief, sexual assault, and female rage.

When I chose to share my story, I lost people close to me but it was the best decision I have ever made, and I would make it again. That experience is exactly why this workshop matters so deeply to me.

In 2024, I had the honour of receiving an International Impact Award in the categories of Autobiography, Grief, Inspirational and Memoir, and travelled to Phoenix, Arizona for the awards ceremony. That same year, I received an Honourable Mention at the LA Times Festival of Books for General Nonfiction. In 2025, I was named a Finalist for Author of the Year through the International Impact Awards and was invited to sit on a panel at the Vancouver International Publishing Conference on a topic very close to my heart: Is Writing the Tough Stuff Worth It? Beyond the page, I have had the privilege of serving as a keynote speaker for Witset First Nation at their Overdose Awareness Event and for Positive Living North. I speak weekly at AWAC, the Association Advocating for Women and Community here in Prince George, and I host a book club at the Prince George Regional Correctional Facility. I have also begun facilitating my own workshops under the Becoming series, including Becoming Confident, and I have an upcoming retreat called Becoming Resilient taking place at Fir Haven on June 5th, 2026. I know firsthand what it costs to speak your truth and I know what it gives back. I am so excited for the opportunity to sit with other writers in that exact question and help them find their own answer.
